OUR MISSION

Here at The Final Straw we have three main objectives:

TO EDUCATE SOMERSET ON THE IMPORTANCE OF REFUSING SINGLE-USE POINTLESS PLASTICS

TO CLEAN UP OUR LOCAL AREA AND BEACHES

TO EDUCATE LOCAL STUDENTS ABOUT THE IMPACTS OF PLASTIC POLLUTION

WHY BAN PLASTIC STRAWS?

Scientists have predicted that by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Whilst we realise a large amount of plastic in the ocean is caused by the fishing industry, we still feel that we can reduce this issue through making more environmentally-friendly choices in our everyday lives. All the plastic that ends up in our seas can be ingested by fish as nano-plastics, which means eventually we may ingest that plastic too! Our orignal project of banning plastic straws was simply a small step in the fight against the pollution of our planet. We hope you'll join us in our mission to clean up our planet.
